Intensive conversational Spanish, cultural explorations 
and Service Learning study abroad summer program.
Travel dates: Sunday, May 27 to Sunday, June 24, 2012.

*Castellano is the Spanish spoken in Latin America.
   
It is imperative that participants of Castellano en Perú/Ola ka honua 2012 understand that this program has an intensive conversational Spanish component and they must be willing to use the language to communicate with native speakers and fellow participants.  Cultural and social activities, like volunteering and sightseeing, will contribute to the unique immersion experience. 
 
∞	Academic component – Castellano en Perú
Students will have scheduled class meetings.  Students will be required to take notes, do homework, keep a language journal, take quizzes and tests and research a cultural project. 

∞	Service Learning component – Ola ka honua
Participants will design, perform, evaluate, and reflect on Service Learning projects that will take place in Perú.  Students will document preparations for the project; record their thoughts while doing the project; and reflect afterwards on their service learning experience.
